The South Carolina Associate exam
The Associate exam, formerly the salesperson exam, has a national portion and a South Carolina portion. You must pass both to apply for your license.

The steps

Know the name change
A 2024 update to the Real Estate Practice Act renamed the salesperson license to associate. Older books, courses, and forum posts may still say “salesperson.”

Plan for two portions
The national portion covers general real estate principles. The state portion covers South Carolina law and practice. PSI may include 5 to 10 unscored experimental questions.

Get authorized before you schedule
The Commission authorizes you after your application is complete and approved. PSI then notifies you that you can register and pay the exam fee.

Practice, then review your course
Use practice questions to find weak topics, then return to those chapters in your pre-licensing course material.
