From Unit I to your Associate license

The steps

1. 01

   Confirm you qualify

   You must be at least 18 and hold a high school diploma or a recognized equivalent.

2. 02

   Complete Unit I (60 hours)

   Take Fundamentals of Real Estate from a Commission-approved provider. Law degrees, real estate degrees, and some Georgia and North Carolina applicants are exempt.

3. 03

   Apply to the Commission

   Submit the application with the $25 fee, identification, proof of education, the notarized lawful presence form, and answers to the personal history questions.

4. 04

   Complete background checks when instructed

   The Commission emails instructions for a fingerprint check and a Social Security number check. Wait for those instructions before you start.

5. 05

   Schedule and pass the exam

   After approval, PSI notifies you that you can register. Pass the national and state portions. PSI sends your scores to the Commission.

6. 06

   Finish Unit II (30 hours)

   Advanced Real Estate Principles can be completed after the exam, but the certificate is required before the Commission issues your license.

7. 07

   Complete licensure

   The Commission requests the $50 initial license fee, a Supervision Attestation Form, and your Unit II certificate if you have not yet sent it.
