Guide 11 / South Carolina
Broker-in-Charge and Property Manager-in-Charge
These licenses are for people who run a firm or office. Each builds on a license and exam you have already completed rather than adding a new exam.
The steps
- 01
Broker-in-Charge starts with Broker
Meet the Broker requirements first. If you have not passed the South Carolina Broker exam, apply for it and pass it before you apply as Broker-in-Charge.
- 02
Connect the application to a company
A Broker-in-Charge must have an ownership interest in the company or be actively engaged in its operation and management. The application fee is $250.
- 03
Property Manager-in-Charge starts with Property Manager
Meet the Property Manager requirements, be at least 21, and pass the Property Manager exam first.
- 04
Complete 7 hours of accounting and record keeping
Property Manager-in-Charge applicants take Commission-approved courses before the license is issued. The application fee is $250.
- 05
Report trust account details
If the firm holds trust funds, report the name and address of the bank holding the escrow account on the application.
- 06
Taking over an existing firm
A transfer requires an attestation signed by the current Broker-in-Charge, Property Manager-in-Charge, or company owner.
