The steps
- 01
Build the experience
You need 5 years as an actively licensed South Carolina associate within the last 7 years. Before May 21, 2024, the requirement was 3 years within 5.
- 02
Complete Unit III A and III B
Broker Management and Brokerage Principles total 60 hours. Law degrees, real estate degrees, and Georgia applicants licensed by written exam are exempt.
- 03
Apply and complete background checks
Submit the application with the $25 fee, then complete the fingerprint and Social Security number checks when the Commission sends instructions.
- 04
Pass the national and state Broker exams
PSI administers both portions. An active license in another state usually means you take only the state portion.
- 05
Choose supervision or Broker-in-Charge
At licensure, pay $125 with a Supervision Attestation Form, or $250 with a Broker-in-Charge application.
